"Light Up The Season" with the Founders Auxiliary Board
The Founders Auxiliary Board and Four Seasons Hotel Washington, D.C., have joined together to “Light Up The Season” for Children’s National Hospital patients and their families.
The annual fundraiser showcases five trees and a menorah. Each of these festive pieces was decorated by a Children’s National patient. Local artists and designers helped bring each patient’s vision to life in a creative way.
“It wasn’t what I was expecting – it was so much more!” says Nell, a 13-year-old Children’s National patient who helped design the tree and vignette pictured here. “I’m very interested in design, so this was an incredible experience to work with local design professionals. I also enjoyed seeing the other patient-designed trees and seeing how they expressed their stories.”
You can check out this very special holiday décor on display in the Four Seasons’ lobby now through January 2.
Proceeds from the fundraiser support Children’s National patients, families and staff. Charitable donations to Children’s National change children’s lives through exceptional health care and discoveries that offer hope, healing and brighter futures.
“Children’s National is a special place filled with joy and laughter even when kids are facing tough obstacles,” says Diane Schaefer, President of the Founders Auxiliary Board. “I love that Light Up the Season celebrates the patients’ creativity and the quality, individualized care they receive. Supporting Children’s National and patients like Nell is vital for our community.”
In addition to viewing the creative holiday décor, the community can support the fundraiser by attending the Teddy Bear Tea on December 11 or shopping at the Four Seasons’ Holiday Market on weekend evenings through December 19. Click here for more information about these events.
Diana and Stephen Goldberg are the event’s top sponsors. Luminary sponsors are Alarm.com, Dana Rice Group of COMPASS, RBC Wealth Management, Diane and Peter Schaefer, Stanley Black & Decker, Kathy and Ken Kies and Kathie and Mike Williams.
This is the fifth annual event. Over the years, Light Up The Season has raised more than $400,000 for Children’s National.
